Growing up, I was always fascinated by flowers. I've always been the "artsy" type, doing everything from drawing and painting to photography. It's no surprise that flowers have always been my favourite artistic subject. The variations of colour and form found in nature are amazing, and I've always loved the challenge of capturing their true beauty in my artwork.
One of the first things I fell in love with when I arrived in Australia was the native flora. I had never seen such a unique variety of beautiful plants in my life! When presented with the opportunity to take a floristry hobby course here in Melbourne in 2006, I knew it was something I had to try. From the very first class, I was in love! I knew that I had finally found my calling.
In 2007, I completed the Certificate II in Floristry at Box Hill TAFE. In August of that year, I had the honour of winning Second Place in Box Hill TAFE's Open Day Competition, sponsored by Interflora. While I studied, I worked in a number of florists shops around Melbourne, learning many different techniques of floristry. Out of the various types of work I've learned to create, I enjoy wedding and events work the most. It is an honour to have the opportunity to assist someone in creating their special event.
When I'm not creating beautiful works of art for an event, I am constantly researching new styles and ideas and practicing my skills. I honestly believe that the more knowledge and passion a florist has for their art, the better the finished product will be. I make a point of constantly learning and challenging myself so I can continue to provide my clients with the best possible product to suit their needs.
